Legislative Updates

The North Dakota legislative assembly convenes biennially in odd numbered years. The 65th Legislative Assembly convened on January 3, 2017. The session is expected to conclude in April.

Each week while the legislature meets, NDBA government relations staff prepares a weekly "Legislative Update." The update covers legislative hearings that have been held during the week, describes the testimony that is given in favor or opposition to legislations, reports on committee action and, as the session progresses, reports on whether bills have passed or failed. The weekly Legislative Update also includes a calendar of hearings that are scheduled for the upcoming week.

NDBA issues "Legislative Alerts" as warranted by developments on legislation for which the NDBA Legislative Committee and Board have taken a position of support or opposition. When NDBA issues an alert, NDBA bankers are asked to contact legislators and urge them to support or oppose a specific bill. Legislative Alerts typically include information and talking points for legislators.
