Senate Vote on Regulatory Reform Bill Expected This Week

Posted on 3/5/2018

The Senate is expected to vote as soon as this week on S. 2155, the bipartisan regulatory reform bill advocated by ABA. Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) last week began setting up necessary procedural steps, and additional procedural votes are expected today and tomorrow.

The House will continue holding votes on individual regulatory reform bills. This week, the House is expected to vote on three ABA-advocated bills: H.R. 2226, which would provide a Qualified Mortgage safe harbor for mortgages held in portfolio by banks with less than $10 billion in assets; H.R. 4725, which would reduce the regulatory reporting burden on community banks; and H.R. 4607, which would improve the Economic Growth and Regulatory Paperwork Reduction Act regulatory review process.
