FDIC Launches Campaign to Promote Bank Accounts
FDIC Launches Campaign to Promote Bank Accounts
Posted:
Apr 07 2021
The FDIC has launched a public awareness campaign about the benefits of opening a bank account. The campaign targets the Houston and Atlanta areas, which the FDIC said have disproportionately high unbanked populations.
The FDIC’s #GetBanked campaign encourages consumers to consider opening a checking account and includes a checklist to help consumers choose the best account to meet their needs as well as a list of local partners to help consumers find low-cost bank accounts.
As the banking industry works to promote financial inclusion, banks might consider offering “Bank On-certified” accounts that offer low costs, no overdraft fees, robust transaction capabilities via a debit or prepaid card and bill pay capabilities.
