ND Supreme Court Order Removes Measure 3 from Ballot
ND Supreme Court Order Removes Measure 3 from Ballot
Posted:
Aug 26 2020
After oral arguments last week, the North Dakota Supreme Court has issued a unanimous decision enjoining Secretary of State Al Jaeger from placing Measure 3 on the November ballot.
Measure 3 is a wide-ranging three-page constitutional initiative, covering state election laws. If approved by voters, it would have enacted new processes for military-overseas voting, election audits, open primaries, instant election runoffs, subdivided state House districts and placed legislative redistricting in the hands of the state's new Ethics Commission.
The Brighter Future Alliance filed suit against Secretary of State Al Jaeger and the Measure 3 Sponsoring Committee claiming those who petitioned to get the measure on the ballot, did so illegally.
